History of blood transfusion

The physician William Harvey discovered the circulation of blood in 1628. It took another 38 years before the first successful blood transfusion was done on an animal.

First blood transfusion

The first British blood depot was established during World War 1, after scientists discovered how blood could be stored to last longer.
